Last week's Met Ball gave us yet another red carpet event with the opportunity to pore over suits a plenty; the good, bad and downright bonkers. So, who was wearing what and how well did they do?
Let's kick off with our selection of the traditional black tie ensembles, pulled off with great aplomb by Colin Firth in Prada, Justin Timberlake in Tom Ford and Daniel Radcliffe in Antonio Azzuolo, who gets extra points for sporting a narrow shawl collar and the lesser seen cummerbund you can just glimpse under his jacket. Very grown up!
Next, a special mention for the boys in blue. Complimenting the colour choices of their dates, both Ben Stiller and Tommy Hilfiger went with navy on the night. Tommy wears a pin stripe two piece with contrast black lapel, from his own collection, accessorised with a white dress shirt and traditional black bow tie. Ben goes a little more contemporary with a super sleek midnight blue Prada suit, classic white shirt and navy silk skinny tie.
Rock and Roll royalty were also in attendance in the form of Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood. No stranger to fashion (he's got designer L'Wren Scott on his arm) Mick's gone a bit 'mash up' with stripes, burgundy, blue and black all featuring in this ensemble. Sorry Mick, we're going to have to file this one under 'Could do Better' and look to Ronnie for a more successful red carpet outing, mixing a classic black tux with a dapper polka dot waistcoat. Top marks!
Our award for stand out statement suit goes to Mr Zac Posen. A burgundy velvet dinner jacket with contrast cloth lapel to match the trousers, white dress shirt and a purple bow tie, all colour co-ordinated to perfection with his date on the night, Amber Heard (also wearing a Zac Posen gown).
And finally, we've reserved an extra special nod to Marc Jacobs, for whose choice of attire we really have no words.
